Kiefaber Paradigm Preference Indicator

The Kiefaber Paradigm Preference Indicator is an assessment that reveals your problem solving style. It will help you understand whether you (1) solve problems inside versus outside an accepted framework and (2) seek to implement problem solving ideas in either a patient or impatient way. The test not only provides insight into individual preferences, but also provides a basis for understanding that can lead to greater group effectiveness.

One of the things that is commonly agreed upon by psychologists in general and leadership experts in particular is that self-awareness is a critical asset for success. Understanding one’s own motivations and preferences is key to being able to lead, influence, and simply get along with others. We have endeavored with the KP2 to provide you with a simple method of measuring and understanding one of your basic approaches to solving problems. From the results of this instrument, you will learn whether you prefer to solve problems by improving what is already there (inside the paradigm) or going past what is there to a fundamentally different solution (outside the paradigm). You will also learn whether your basic approach when implementing a solution is to patiently guide toward consensus or to impatiently push others to act.

The KP2 was developed by Mark Kiefaber, author of P.L.U.S. Parenting and Parent Burnout and noted management consultant, at Columbia University.
